Leigh Park Working Mens Club versus North End Bowling Club - 12/01/12
The North End Bowling Club currently sit proudly on the top of Division three, but its is still possible however that some of the teams in the lower half of the league that have a game in hand could challenge us.
The team that we played this week was one of these teams namely the LPWMC.
The result therefore was even more pleasing as we managed to win four out of six of the black ball games.
Mark Richmond played Mick Walsh and after losing the first frame on the black, Mark managed to win the second also on the black.
Colin Elliott played Bill Parsons and Colin played very well and managed to win the first frame with Bill requiring snookers on the colours. In the second frame Bill found his potting game but even then only just beat Colin for a very good draw.
Score 2 - 2
Derek Sandy then played Mark Ricketts in an amazing first frame where he looked totally outplayed and twice required snookers on the colours but still managed to come back and win on the black. In the second frame Mark managed to then win on the black.
Adrian Pledge played Dave Riddell and in a very close first frame cleared the pink and black to win. Adrian managed to open a nice lead in the second and Dave never looked like catching him
Score 5 - 3
Ian Pledge played Colin Ricketts and after a very scrappy first frame where Ian gave Colin a 20 point lead managed to pull back somehow after being given numerous chances. The second frame followed a similar pattern to the first, with finally Colin fluking the blue to leave him on the Pink and giving him a pot at the black. After coming out safe he then had an even easier chance but still managed to leave it for a grateful opponent.
Mike Dorey played Karl Ricketts and Mike outplayed him in the first, before finding it slightly more difficult in winning the second.
Final Score 9 - 3 Ian Pledge
**********
Thursday the 5th of January Home to Waverley Bowling Club.
This was a very friendly evening as we have known our opponents for many years.
The match format is each team has six players who each play two frames. The draw is made to see who plays who.
The first two games were Rich Jones playing Dave Egan and Colin Elliott playing Pete Gorvin.
Rich lost two close frames but Colin played very well to beat Pete who didn't have any luck in either frame.
Match score 2 - 2
The second two games were Mike Dorey playing Tony Lee and Ian Pledge playing Tom Wade.
Mike played very well in the best match of the evening, clearing up the colours to win the first frame and running out a clear winner in the second to beat a very good player in Tony Lee.
Ian played Tom in two scrappy frames with Ian being very lucky to accept a simple black in the second frame when it looked as if Tom would win both games.
Match score 5 - 3
The final two games were Tony Allen playing Jamie McSherry and Adrian Pledge playing Lee Paice.
Tony lost to Jamie but Adrian played some good solid snooker to beat Lee.
Final Match score 7 - 5 win to the North End Bowling Club.
